SAT Essay–words on lined paper (Part One)

first there are the obvious voices–

  • Give a clear thesis
  • Introduce and conclude 
  • Use effective language 
  • Read carefully
  • Find the treasures in the text
  • Use the stuff in boxes as though they were your life jackets 
  • Be accurate
  • Write more than a single page
  • No matter what you personally believe, write as though you were more passionate than the author about the pov
  • If you know contextual or relevant information beyond the text, keep it in your frame of reference

And also in your pocket, words:

Writes, evokes, demonstrates, calls out

Persuades, convinces, illustrates

Constructs, builds, assesses, paints a picture

Makes a case

Counters, countering, refutes

Gives us an example, provides, offers, delivers, proffers,
