Shredding for Memsahib

April 6, 2014

Yep. He called me ma’am.

As a woman in my mid-forties I am indeed a ma’am but it still flies in the face of the sport I am suited up to pursue–wakeboarding.

Old ladies don’t wakeboard!!

But if they did they would be wise to follow my regime:

Give yourself time, these young fellas are fearless and their joints don’t click.

Take their advice though, they know how to shred.

Practice. The more you ride, the more you learn.

When you hit a mental block, go around it. Examine your fear. Tackle your weakness. Strength train. And aim to overcome in the long run.

And watch how the big boys ride. They teach you what can be done. Follow their wake.

And remember, always remember, things you learn when gliding over water apply to the rest of life as well.
